best september

this is probably one of the most eventful months yet in my stay in oz land.

it all started with me getting to play in Richmond AOG's super band! It's just great hanging out with those good ol musos once again and learning so much from them. and apparently i'm not a drummer anymore. (i still am) I am now on the bass kicking phat grooves... right

But i guess it is true that a drummer-bassist grooves better with the band and the drummer than a bassist-bassist. WHY? I have found the reason why... after drumming for so many years alongside countless bassists, i have always had MY WAY in my head about how the bass should be played "i'm playing this BEAT. So groove like THIS with me..."

but for such tolerant ppl like me *gags* i never voice out how i would've liked the bassist to play. cos that would be... BOSSY. and ARROGANT. and I-THINK-I-KNOW-IT-ALL-ish. so i keep quiet. (no offence to the bassists i have played with.. i've played with many amazing bassists, u guys rock, u know who u are..)

I'm not meant to be blogging about this, but since i havent blogged for a while. i'll just let WTV flow.

SO i played with the band a number of times now and the last time i played was for celebration weekend. It's just a weekend that we celebrated the end of 40 days of Community project. It was a great time going through the book by Rick Warren and putting it into practice by helping the community and stuff. which i didnt go for. whoops.

We, the band managed to nail a song by Kirk Franklin - Hosanna. Fun song and our choir did an excellent job. The music was a bit crazy.. but after listening to it a million times and practicing half a million times, it went perfect! Have a listen! http://youtube.com/watch?v=-8P72S8E230

So many kicks and pushes in the songs. Why do blacks have to be so good at music.. gives us asians and whites a tough time.

After the last celebration ended on sunday morning, i saw my aunt run on stage while the band was doing after-church-jams. she was frantically pointing to the front of the stage with a big smile. I looked to the front and saw a familiar face... Lyn!!!!!!!!!!! and her little sister..

My jaw dropped and grace(lyn's little sister) snapped a photo that was called "the million dollar look".

it's a pity i dont have any photos, cos they're all in lyn's phone. the only one i have is this one of lyn and i doing something that u cant do in malaysia cos u'll be bitten by killer ants and dangerous animals/people. Just lying down on the grass randomly in a park, and enjoying the breeze.

i did as many things as i could with lyn, because distance makes the heart grow fonder. omg so cheesy... it was kinda true though, time felt precious and like it was moving really quickly. went to the royal melbourne show, around the city, melbourne aquarium, yarra cruise, 10 thousand million walks and just kicking back to watch a movie by the fire place. Sounds too good to be true? well it was, cos she left for adelaide. Good times!

More people should visit me. My parents will be here in november so that should be good!

I applied for a job at my sisters firm Saward Dawson for summer vacation work because her boss told me to send in an application. Heck yea i'd take ANY position they would want to give me. Dont even have to pay me JUST EXPLOIT ME! lol.. righto... but work experience like this is extremely rare and would've been awesome. So i put lotsa effort into the application and they came back to me saying that they had no positions for my qualifications. Cos i'm only in first year. oh well, better luck next time!

Now i have nothing to do in summer, and i think it's a bit too late to get tickets to fly home. so... hehe.. i'm stuffed. MAYBE if i can get cheap flight home i'll go.. if not i'll be here alone. dont even know if i have a job!! ><

after lyn left, i spend almost 4 days cooped up in my room and house. withdrawal symptoms haha. i almost went crazy.. didnt go anywhere, just stayed at home and tried to study, facebooked and youtubed.

Friday came, and i went for a KPMG lunch cos my ching-ee works there. It was good, the theme was footy cos everyone is in footy mood for AFL grand final. There was the grand final parade right outside KPMG where the players of the 2 footy teams (port adelaide and geelong) paraded down the streets and thousands of ppl just stood there to wave them by!

Friday night, my cuz jeremy, some aussie mates, and i went to Telstra dome to watch Melbourne Victory(our soccer team) play Queensland.it's 12 bucks a ticket. quite decently priced, We get to choose lvl 1, field level or level3(where we eventually sat to get a bird's eye view)

It was THE most boring first half, not many chances were created.. but the action started in the second half, we got a penalty and the crowd went NUTS! Scored the penalty! and Archie Thompson (melbourne hero) scored the other goal. It is probably one of the most one sided crowds i've ever been in. there was not one queensland supporter. it was really fun.

The stadium was not that packed, official attendance was 25,000. Still much better than malaysia's crowd. The cheer squad were shouting at the top of their lungs from start to finish. It was great atmosphere, and well worth the money. Those of u in melbourne, i recommend you to just head down to telstra dome on a soccer night. 12 bucks. it's good fun.

Stayed over at my cousin's place and in the morning, i woke looked outside the window, and..

there stood a black BEAST. one of a kind mean, sporty and elegant. A new addition to "MY" COLLECTION OF CARS I'VE RODE AROUND IN! lol. that's lame...

Ferrari 599 GTB

i dont have good photo taking skills :D

A view from the back. It's quite stunning. The interior. The steering wheel is like a toy, with f-1 flaps and red engine start button, the other red nobs are engine settings. like launch control, team radio, and fuel mixing... only joking. i dunno what it does. apparently u change it between sports setting and blablabla. too fancy pancy.

Look at me, True malaysian style! shorts and slippers in the classy ferrari. It's a really amazing car.

Comparing the ferrari and the lambo. The ferrari 599 is more of a gentleman compared to the lamborghini gallardo. lambo is a fun and wild, loud with massive power and is not shy to show it. This ferrari is a pleasant man in a suit, but if u mess with it, you'll be sorry, because under its hood is a beast coming from its Enzo engine. It is de-tuned to suit the 599 as its body is lighter. After all the noise from the beast, it just quietly slips back into its cover and behaves, turning it into a very practical everyday car.

Mannn.. how many people can say that!

Saturday afternoon and it was AFL grand final. I was gunning for Port Adelaide but they got humiliated by geelong and it was THE worst AFL game ever. Plus it was a Grand Final. Boring As EVER!

finished the day of by following my cousin tim to the exclusive kooyong club. Went to the gym and had a workout i was not really used to. Tim's just fit as. i went on the bike, did some weights, situps, 10laps of swimming, and then to warm down, a Spa & Sauna Session.

it's all good cos i had the BEST sleep i've ever had in yearsss that night

I'm running short of time. 26 days to final exams. WHY AM I BLOGGING. i just thought i had to put this month down into my dead ol' blog. wish me luck.
Off to study!

here's tim to say goodbye

It blew my mind when i saw this.. my church that i grew up in all my life. we were about a hundred people ppl back then..

i'm proud to announce...

My beloved church in Malaysia, Damansara Utama Methodist Church (DUMC) has launched Dream Centre. The new 3000 capacity building and it's awesome. I really wish i could be there to experience it.

We used to have about 2000 people in our church. At the opening there were 4000!! where do 2 thousand people come from?! This means we have to start building a new building! Or the band has to play 4 sessions again in no time!

Part of the band (MWM) that i was a part of... :'( I am still part of them! They will always be a part of my heart!

and the choir! looks amazing.

i'm just at awe of what God can do to a church. It's mad.

so to DUMC, i feel so so so proud. i wanna tell the whole of Australia bout my Malaysian church. keep it up! i'll be back in no time... next June. Mann.. that's ages. I regret deciding not to go home in december now. haha.. nah i'm fine.

Those of you who want a life-changing experience, head down to DREAM CENTRE!!
2, Jalan 13/1,Seksyen 13, 46200 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia

that's it.. back to studying.

lamborghini gallardo

....... NO WAY...

...YES WAY!

......................NoOoOOoo Wayyyy.....

ooooh yessss... this is what i come home to on weekends.

felt like... "King of the castle king of the castle.. i have a lambo. go do this go do that. king of the castle!" -Borat Sagdiyev

there werent any two eyes that did not stop and look at us... everyone just paused everything they were doing.. and looked at us in the car. cos they valued lookin at the car higher than whatever they were doing at that point. ( a little economics analogy there for u..)

check this out.... couldnt hold the camera still cos i was shaking! I WAS SHAKING, IT WAS SO FAST.hows this for speed, 0-100 km/h in 4seconds flat.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=-3LUbfSydHI

now i dont need to work to earn money to buy a lambo anymore.. i've sat in it once. enough for the rest of one's life. and i just made ur life a little better by letting u experience a bit of it too. lol. i'm joking, not really funny am i....

played in the richmond AOG band for the first time. got to meet n play with amazing musicians n most importantly important ppl! it was a great experience first time playing in front of an aussie crowd, and a big one indeed...
quite intimidating, but came to realise that there's no diff cos it's the same God we all serve.. awesome time!

thats all for tonight. rarh.

humans were made to fly!

"romeo foxtrot charlie request for start up"

"romeo foxtrot charlie permission granted"

ok ok i dont know if that's exactly what they said but I WENT FLYING! i lived my dream for a little while.. probably the closes i came to controlling an airplane..

uncle Cher Wen took us flying, and has been flying since his uni days and does it now as a hobby. i think that's really awesome cos i kinda gave up my pilot dreams hoping that one day i will have enough time, capacity and money *cha-ching* to fly as a hobby too.

i am just in awe of the simplicity of how the plane takes flight yet the closest detail of how it was created to do so. and the feeling of flying is unlike any other.. i mean, c'mon.. even on a commercial jet i try to picture what happens outside and what the pilots do.

the closest i came to flying a plane is Microsoft Flight Simulator. Introduced by Captain Edwards.. (im not sure of his surname..SORRY!).

I had a dream to be a pilot, in form5 and through college i did all the reading about flying, and learnt to fly the little cessna by doing a fair bit of simulator flying. many ppl asked me, so.... WHAT HAPPENED TO UR DREAM?... so this is the real story in short:

i kinda got overly excited after getting the simulator student pilot licence, and skipped to reading about flying commercial jets.

i got a little lost cos it was a bit more complicated.. lost my dream of being a pilot cos i felt the loneliness of flying a commercial jet, and it wasnt even the real thing, just a simulator. i learnt how to take off, climb, level off, cruise, then when i set my auto pilot cruising speed and altitude... there was not much at all to be done... "i wouldnt be able to live a lifestyle like that", i told myself. and so that's how it kinda ended. sad... but not really, Cos I STILL GOT TO FLY!!!

so we did the detailed flight check. lyn and little sister yin were not that interested but I was like a faithful dog following uncle cher wen checking the plane and where to check for engine oil, fuel, flaps, rudder etc.

anywhoooo,.... off we went!

Flew around KL city, around the towers.... with really bad weather
i started off at the back of the plane, Lyn was getting bad headaches cos she didnt really like the feel of the plane. we pulled a couple G's for kicks, by descending and then quickly pulling up while turning.

DID YOU KNOW?
G-force is a measure of the magnitude of the acceleration relative to the local gravitational acceleration vector.

In simpler terms, G's are the forces a rider will feel caused by change in speed and direction of the plane, roller coaster, etc.

while descending, we experience negative G-force as though we are weightless,
While ascending, we experience positive G-force depending on the severity of the pull-up, we will feel that number of times of our own weight. so if we pulled 2G's i would've felt like i was nailed to the seat cos i weighed 100+kg's.

comprendo? understando? LOL that was a waste of energy.

then it was my turn last to sit in front for the best part.

This is me landing the plane......... well, not really. we would've crashed if i did.
we did a touch and go by landing and applying full power to take off again. then went one more round to land. it was sucha rush. i loved every second of it..

Uncle Cher Wen made it look so easy, and lyn made it look so painful, as we parked at the side of the runway and she ran out and almost kissed the floor. and yin who always enjoys everything. Thanks!

and go to jonming.com and vote for wei jinn's carbonara!(cos i did the spinach n supervising) =P

i'm home!

i'm home!

i didnt really feel much difference, cos i havent been away for that long. and everyone's like. wahh u come back so fast, u've barely been there for 5 months. and then they make me feel like a brat... but i didnt plan to go home ANYWAY!

it all started off with lyn. she was meant to come visit me in australia for a week.. at the end of my holidays, but it's like winter, and she like will freeze.. she said she'll come anyway. so then this idea came to my mind.. to go home and suprise her.. but but but it's only been 5 months. rarh

so then i thought i'll just ask my dad, and then they were like, ACTUALLY let me tell u what i had planned.. and i was like.. U WERe planning behind my back?! turns out all of them were. even my sister whom i stay with. they were planning to use the frequent flyer points that were expiring, to send me home. so i was like Yea why not... so then i start telling everyone i'm coming home. and start making plans to suprise lyn and plans to go shopping with my bro and everything! the next day, parents come back to me and said, sorry no tickets. and i'm like.. nOnOnonOno wayyyYYY!

so then nothing was gonna stop me from going home cos i was all hyped up for it. and in the end there were tickets.. so here i am back home. i couldnt really suprise lyn anymore cos she knew i had plans to come home. so i kinda left doubts in her head and told her i'm coming back later. so she starts to sulk "whyy u cant make it for my graduation?!?!"

so i finished my last paper on 15th which was horrible. i was doing so well until that paper... so hanyway, left that night itself 12.15 am. to make it for her graduation night which was 16th night.

had to pull one of those lame excuses (which she fell for). i'm staying at my aunts house on friday and my phone battery is dying (so i had an excuse to be away from the computer and away from a phone) during my flight. so then she was all sad...

got home, and noone was home. parents and all my family were in cameron highlands having fun without me.. so i was home alone the whole day. had to keep away from lyn for one day. it's like so close yet so far.. i wanted to just go find her during the day but the plan was the suprise at the graduation! so SELF-CONTROL!

i planned with jon chin, one of my buddy's in lyn's class. to do everything for me like tell me the details and the best time to come. so i came when the dinner started.. and he came to get me.
he went into the room and told lyn "a teacher wants to see u outside.. i cant remember his name" not a bad cover.. lyn stil fell for it but was sniffing a little bit of fishiness after giant hints from her sister.

she walked out and it was magic!not really.. i dunno. gave her flowers and ............ wouldnt get into detail cos some stuff is just better left unsaid and i need to keep my cool image. lol! wasnt much mushyness just overwhelming joy. lol. i'll stop.

********************************************************************

so it was a great night overall, getting to see all her classmates too. it's like i knew so many ppl till i felt as though i graduated from a-levels. but u all know that a-levels its so not me. could be me, but i'd rather not. Thanks again Jon for all the planning and the help! and all of lyn's classmates who so willingly let me join in the graduation without me buying a ticket. i even ate some food! ><>

Other Updates, many of u have asked yun, "what have u been up to for the past month and few days. yun's lost in australia doing aussie things and trying to be aussie. (that wannabe)

i think i'm soaking in the aussieness pretty well. FIRSTLY, i watch footie.

i tell ppl i work at the footie.. and they ask "what is that?"

Footie is an abbreviation for Football in Australia. It is not any ordinary football though, this is Aussie Rules Football, a.k.a. AFL (Australian Football League).

it's played in an oval. and as 4 posts on each side. played with a rugby-like ball.

players move the ball by bouncing and running, hand pass (hitting the ball with ur hand), kicking and marking (when a player kicks the ball more than around 15m and another catches it - it's called a 'mark', other players cant tackle or take the ball away from him until his next move. )

players then attempt to kick the ball thru the posts, if the ball goes between the middle posts it's a goal which is 6 points. if it goes to the side posts it's 1 point.

intense game i tell ya, but no asians like it.

i work in a coffee/donut van. at telstra dome so i got to be a part of the crowd watching footie, and selling food between breaks. we sell yummy oily donuts, coffee, hot dogs, chips, dim sims, chicken strips and drinks. and it's quite a lot of fun. it's like diner dash. (if u know what game i'm talking about, you should be ashamed of urself...)

you should grow up! dont ask me how i know that game o.O

so yea i took this picture from where i work. SO many watch the footie every weekend. it's like a family thing, or a friends thing, and it's really nice to see ppl enjoying life like that. it's all good.

our "toilet breaks".. more like "checking the score"

SECONDLY, i have a myspace.

general - www.myspace.com/yuntjin

music - www.myspace.com/tjinmusic

THIRDLY, that's it really. i watch footie and i have a myspace. SO AUSSIE! lol.

more pictures of that faithful night coming soon.

missed ya guys...

guys...? girls...? anybody?...

i think i've lost all my readers once again.

For the high,

For the shy,
for the outgoing, and the future politician.

For the tall,

gone fishin...

Gone Fishin...
It's been a while. Easter break and i've got quite a lot of studying to do. I'm currently in the library... ON A HOLIDAY?! trying my best to be the nerd... i am not.

I've been trying to study. trying not to be on the computer so much.. so didnt blog for a long time. Until i received a pleasant msg on one of my pages. Somebody had to come find my books while i wasnt aware. and remind me to blog...

SO HERE I AM. cos of you, i-dunno-who who wrote on my notes... *cough*coughELISA*

=D

I didnt go to Mount Arapiles for climbing cos i need to rest my back that was fresh of a previous injury at Werribee Gorge. and... WHAT A BUMMER! so i'm uber bored the whole week.. Friday we had the international students Easter gathering thing at Clayton COC. it was pretty good.. Got to play the drums for them and i love their kit. hate their cymbals though.. anyone coming here from malaysia soon? lug my cymbals along please thank you!

so then saturday i stayed home the ENTIRE day doing nothing. "studying" apparently.. at night, some friends dropped by and we went for supper and a new creation game called PokerOpoly. it's meant to be an intergrated game with poker and monopoly where u gamble in poker with monopoly money that u've earned.. and Ohhh.. i just learnt how to play poker. so NOW i can watch James Bond Casino Royale again.. and i'll be like... AAaaahhhh! NOW i get IT!!

Planned with some of the church peeps to go fishing on monday. i was really reluctant to go as i have work to do.. (i still have that same work to do.. and its now.. thursday! =]) but they eventually got me to follow them. to a fish farm. it was too easy to catch fishes there.. but yea.. i havent fished since i was... a little boy. so i kinda need to refresh my skills a lil... just because lyn says that MAYBE.. just MAYBE.. i could follow her family to Adelaide for holiday in the boat house! :D

so... *ahem* if ANYONE's reading this.... and u happen to be part of the Goh's... i really dont mind going for a holiday with you guys. i'm quite a fun person to hang around with... well behaved to. JUST TAKE ME ALONG WITH YOU PLEASE????
LOOK! i even have skills.. please bring me along!

LOL. sucha try hard... i'm jk! (i only did that cos i know none of them will read my blog).....(i hope)

i caught fishes a little too easily that day. it takes the fun out of fishing.. the fishing wasnt really fun. it was the eating that was probably worth it.. i caught 2 fishes so quickly. i didnt feel like casting my fishin rod anymore. I ended up throwing rocks into the big pond to scare away the fishes so noone else could catch any. if i dont wanna fish, Noone else fishes!! blehhh...

need to resume the studying. and ohh.. i was shopping on ebay for a travelling bag. and i'm a winning bidder for $19.99 . Bid closes in 5 hours. i hope noone steals it from me at the last few seconds. i'll be really mad. It is for this REALLY good Carribee travelling 65litre backpack.. (to take to my outdoor adventures............. *small voice* and boathouse holiday)

"Butts only Please"...... me trying to be funny. but i dont think it's that funny. I'll never be funny no matter how hard i try... noOoOoOooOoOo...
ciow cincau!
